Lux Mundi Ecumenical Centre

Lux Mundi began in 1969 when Father Raymond E Delius, Jesuit Priest and Diocesan Officer for Ecumenical Affairs, saw a need for a Centre to allow people to find "warmth and welcome and show what they are and have,"

In December 1973 the Lux Mundi Ecumenical Centre opened in Calle Nueva, Fuengirola with the help of the Jesuit Order and generous benefactors.

The Sisters of Marie Reparatrice-Sister Mary, sister of Father Delius, now in Cadiz; Sister Anna Maria, also in Cadiz; Sister Angela, now in Nerja, lived and worked at the Ecumenical Centre.

The centres cater for a wide range of people and their needs on the Costa Del Sol from its main Centre in Fuengirola and in Torre Del Mar; e.g. currently there are 120 wheelchairs on loan from Lux Mundi in Fuengirola.

Lux Mundi Provides:

Religious Services in different languages

Wheel Chairs, walkers etc on loan for a small deposit and charge.

Help in contacting hospitals, medical and dental clinics and other services.

Interpreter services

Visitors to those confined at home, help in case of sickness, loneliness, infirmity, bereavement or other difficulties.

Nearly new clothes, Bric-a-Brac.

The chance to meet others from many countries and backgrounds in a relaxed and welcoming surrounding.

All help for the many activities at Fuengirola and Torre del Mar is voluntary. Friends and volunteers are always needed. The centre can not function without committed people to provide their programmes.

Becoming involved in Lux Mundi can help you to find meaning and purpose and perhaps profound change in your retirement years; find warmth and welcome and share what you are and have.
