Only the south aisle and the undercroft of the chapter house survive from the medieval cathedral of Ross, but the plan of the buildings are laid out in the grass.

Bishop Robert moved here from Rosemarkle between 1214-49 and built the cathedral. The cathedral was a long rectangle, with buttressed walls and a tower.

Within the aisles are three arched tombs: Euphemia, Countess of Ross, who was forced to marry Alexander Stewart, the Wolf of Badenoch; Bishop Cairncross, who died in 1545; and Bishop Fraser, who died in 1507.
